About the Event
Spend the morning with AIA Kansas at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. During the advocacy summit, you will hear from elected officials about hot topics as they embark on a new session and look forward to an election season. The summit will provide you policy knowledge and tools to respond and assist in your efforts to build healthy, safe, livable, and sustainable communities that enrich the lives of all people. Throughout the engaging morning, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, interact, and express your opinions and concerns directly to those who can make policy changes.
The 2020 Advocacy Summit is packed with great presenters including Senator Marci Francisco, Secretary of Commerce David Toland and Marta Zaniewski from NCARB. The event will conclude with a School Safety and Security Panel presentation. Grant Thome, AIA Kansas, will facilitate the panel through a discussion that will offer unique perspectives on school safety and security.
During the Summit, you also can request a Meet and Greet time with your legislators. AIA Kansas will coordinate the meeting(s), provide background information, and speaking points. This event will be a great time for you to tour the building and brush up on your historical knowledge of the beautiful capitol.
